Описание фото "Tanahat Monastery"Tanahat Monastery (Armenian: Թանահատի վանք), an early medieval church complex, about 7 km south-east of Vernashen village of Vayots Dzor region. Historians refer to the 8th century. The Red Monastery was also called because of being built of red stone. The monastery was built in the place of the pagan temple, which was dedicated to the Armenian goddess Anahit. In the fifth century here was a Christian temple. Ancient medieval cemetery is scattered around the monastery. Tagan's monastery was functioning until late Middle Ages and now is in good condition.
